Sigmat Ltd

Moving awkward, heavily laden trolleys

Sigmat Ltd is a steel fabricating company based in Leeds, UK. The team designs and builds large framed residential and commercial facilities offsite, a modern method of construction using highly durable metal materials erected quickly and designed to last.

Hotels, student accommodation and townhouses are among the hundreds of large-scale buildings created by Sigmat at their depot in Leeds. Many of the raw materials used in their building construction are long and heavy – some weighing several thousand kilos – making components tricky to move around the site even when placed on a trolley. It takes several people to transport each heavily loaded trolley from A to B without damaging themselves or their load, yet this poses a considerable risk to both.

Sigmat asked for our help sourcing an electric tow tug that could handle these heavy loads daily, taking the strain away from their staff and leaving them to focus on construction rather than logistics. Experts in the safe transporting of loads, whatever the size and weight, our team had just the solution: the V-Move XXL electric tow tug.

The V-Move XXL model is possibly the most hard-working tug manufactured by market leader Verhagen Leiden, a high-end, heavy-duty towing unit designed to pull excessive loads weighing up to 20,000kg. Thanks to its powerful 10kw motor, this towing unit is a natural heavyweight, ready each morning after an overnight battery charge to pull the bulkiest, heaviest trolleys without issues. Optional modifications include a hydraulic lift, counterweights and non-marking tires, plus a range of hitches, couplings and safety features, allowing for a tailored solution that meets the precise requirements.

Our team visited the site to demonstrate the V-Move XXL towing unit, which completely satisfied the Sigmat team’s questions about its strength and stamina to pull heavy loads, and they immediately placed an order.

Since then, Sigmat has confirmed using the tow tug most days without any hiccups. Over the years, our team has provided them with a couple of onsite services, plus a part replacement due to an incident and subsequent damage to the tiller head. Otherwise, the unit continues to support our customer to complete its work with less risk to staff health.
