Safely moving items around college grounds
Furness College is in Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria. Along with Barrow Sixth Form, the college provides further education opportunities for young people aged 16 to 18.
The Furness College facility has recently undergone a multi-million pound investment, extending the space further to accommodate more students than ever. With hundreds on campus every day, it’s a busy old place where teachers require support staff to constantly move items around to support their students’ learning needs. Heavy items such as computers and books require a trolley to ship them quickly and safely without compromising the health and safety of the staff.
The facilities team approached us to enquire about a pedestrian electric tow tug. They wanted something small and easy to store but with enough strength to help move trailers and trolleys carrying all kinds of materials around the college between its various study rooms, workshops and outdoor grounds.
Our team visited the facility to demo the V-Move L electric tow tug from Verhagen Leiden. A compact but robust unit, it is easy to handle and push or pull items weighing up to 2,000kg without issues. It comes with a range of interchangeable towing hitches, making it perfect for moving various items, including trolleys, bins and roll cages. A quick charge in 5-8 hours ensures it stays available for support on a day-to-day basis.
On seeing the unit in action, the customer loved the V-Move L tow tug product and ordered one immediately, which we delivered quickly to their campus. Based on the college being an education provider, we provided them with a discount which they gladly accepted.
