Moving tipping skips around a factory (including up and down small ramps)

Yelo, based in Stratford-upon-Avon, produces animal feed and cooking oil from British farmed rapeseed. They are currently the only company manufacturing these highly sustainable food products on mass via hot production.

 

At their £50m plant, Yelo produces up to 120 million litres of rapeseed oil every year before shipping bottles and cans to shops and restaurants across the UK. In the process, several large tipping skips scattered across the factory used for waste materials are filled quickly and need emptying regularly. With each skip weighing between 1,000 and 1,500kgs when full, and a ramp to navigate during their journey from the production line to the waste disposal area, the staff at Yelo need support to move the skips without losing the load or causing accidents.

 

Yelo requested a unit on a month’s trial to tow their tipping skips across the production plant. Our team provided the V-Move L walk-behind tow-tug, a mid-sized unit capable of pushing loads up to 2000kg with minimum effort. An overnight charge of between 5 and 8 hours keeps the unit ready for action each morning with up to 2 days’ power. It also has an automatic handbrake that holds firm on inclines, making it the perfect solution for safely towing or pushing heavy items up and down ramps.

 

After their initial trial, Yelo agreed to purchase a brand-new unit and continued to loan the original tow tug for an additional few weeks, which was provided to them at no cost until we fulfilled their permanent unit order.

 

Yelo has since confirmed they are incredibly pleased with the V-Move L and will be purchasing more units as production increases. The solution saves time and cost, allowing the staff to move waste quickly and efficiently without any safety concerns.
