Make Your Tow Tug Your Own

Tow tugs are an excellent alternative to forklifts, and they have applications in an impressive array of industries. Whether you’re responsible for relocating bulky plants or you need to move stock through a busy shopping centre, tow tugs are the answer. With Industar’s offering of tow tugs, you can enjoy an emission-free, straightforward and robust mode of transport in various sizes. If their convenience isn’t enough, tow tugs can accommodate different hitches and handlebars tailored to the weight and shape of your load! Your tow tug extras can make your equipment as unique as your requirements.

Learn how to make your tow tug your own with this guide to our optional extras.

Change Your Hitch

Couplings and hitches dictate how your load will attach to your tow tug. Whether you’re transporting waste bins or a trailer, there will be an attachment to accommodate your activity.

A Hydraulic Hitch

Both rear and central hydraulic hitches are available for your tow tug. Hydraulic hitches primarily handle trailers or any load that needs to be hooked from the underside. The difference between central and rear hitches is the positioning of the attachment on the tug. Central hitches are slightly sturdier and can manage more weight.

A Waste Bin Attachment

Recycling and general waste bins don’t tend to have an external hitching point. Wheelie bins are primarily relocated by pushing, but heavier loads can be strenuous to shift on foot. Of course, bin handles are designed to be used by people rather than by machines! Waste bin attachments are designed to handle any storage facility without a hook.

A Tow Ball

Tow balls are suited to standard trailer hitches. They rest slightly higher up than hydraulic hitches and can accommodate a taller trailer.

A Central Electric Hitch

Electric hitches can be raised and lowered using battery power from your tow tug. They’re more cost-effective than a hydraulic hitch, but there are fewer options to change positioning.

An Open Pin

An open pin is efficient when you plan to frequently attach and remove a load from your electric tow tug. You’ll complete any task quicker as you can immediately slide your trailer hook up and over this hitch. Hydraulic hitches and tow balls are more secure but time-consuming.

An A-Frame

A-frames can accommodate weighty loads, such as a caravan or a vehicle. Keep in mind that you must have already fitted pins to your load for this option to work.

Update Your Handlebars

Spring-back or off-set handlebars are an option, so you can manually direct your load. Spring-back handlebars are mainly designed to save space and fold away. Off-set handlebars allow you to pull your tow tug from an angle and monitor the side of your load.

Try New Tyres

Different materials and sizes of tyres will suit changes in the weight of your load. Consider the surface that your tow tug will regularly navigate, and update your tyres accordingly.

Tyres To Choose From:

  • Snow tyres – For extra traction in outdoor winter conditions.
  • Double swivel castors – Can tackle rougher ground and manage heavier loads.
  • Tractor tread tyres – Designed for softer soil and grass, not concrete.
  • Foam-filled tyres – Puncture-proof, so suitable for industrial applications near sharp instruments.
  • Large heavy-duty tyres – Can handle gravel and grass and are more versatile than tractor tread.
  • Non-marking tyres – For warehouses and halls that must be left spotless.
  • Air-filled tyres – Suit uneven surfaces and can be standard or large.
  • Solid rubber tyres – Best applied in factories and warehouses, with puncture resistance.

Consider Further Extras

Even further opportunities to personalise your tow tug are available! You can introduce warning systems to your vehicle, stabiliser wheels and remote control capabilities. Inching buttons and motion sirens could suit your warehouse environment and boost productivity. Contact us at Industar if you’d like any further advice.
