Mecc Alte

Italian-based brand Mecc Alte is the largest manufacturer of alternators globally, with additional manufacturing plants in the UK, China and India servicing customers worldwide.

Alternators vary in size, some tiny and others mammoth depending on the application. Whatever product they are bound for, from cars to cranes, it takes multiple intricate components to make up the final product. Alternator parts arrive at the factory for assembly on a series of dollies, a wheeled flatbed trolley with a handle at one end, and pulled by hand to the correct location on the production line. The dollies come in and out of the factory constantly and are reloaded with parts ready to facilitate the next round of products, working at high speed to meet the demands.

Fast work of this nature requires specialist equipment for the teams to move the dollies quickly and safely. Mecc Alte was concerned for the health of their staff members tasked with constantly pushing and pulling the dollies and contacted our team in search of an electric tow tug to take the strain. For this type of application, we recommended the V-Move XL-HD.
