Henry Construction
Moving 1,100ltr bins safely for collection days
Henry Construction is a construction company based in the UK capital, building and managing multi-level living solutions for people in London, the South East, Midlands and Manchester.
Most developments with multiple dwellings and occupants have a central place for waste bins and rely on a facility team to move them to the kerbside for weekly collection. This can be a tough job, particularly in tall buildings, with more people generating more waste requiring more bins! When you’re looking at moving over ten heavy waste bins at once, that process takes time, which is something refuge collecting teams working their way across a city suburb by suburb are lacking. Not only is it timely but dangerous, too, with some bins extremely heavy and a strain to move.
Our customer wanted a solution to help their facilities team move bins quickly and safely from the basement to street level each waste collection day. They had seen bin trains in action and were keen on a towing device that could accommodate moving multiple bins together without any strain or danger caused to the operator. The challenge? Theirs are large bins with a 1,100lt capacity – around 5-times larger than a standard domestic wheelie bin.
On hearing about their requirements, our team matched the V-Move XL-HD electric tow tug from market leaders Verhagen Leiden. This heavy-duty device is a must for customers looking to move weights up to 5,000kg without compromising human health and safety. It recharges quickly in just 5-8 hours, so it stays available to tow its loads day in and day out, and is simple to operate, with solid, large tires providing maximum traction on all surfaces.
Bins have a towing arm and pin to attach them and form a train. To move a train using a tow tug also requires directional locks to the rear wheels of each bin to prevent them from moving during transit. Our team provided the customer with spring-loaded towing arms and pins to link the bins easily and directional locks to keep them secure as the V-Move XL-HD tows the train.
Since purchasing the V-Move XL-HD, the customer has found the towing unit invaluable, using it frequently to make their job easier. They now save valuable time on waste collection days and are completely satisfied with their tug and top-quality service from Industar.
