L3 Harris provides information technology solutions to the Aerospace and Defense industries, with around 1,500 staff at 15 UK depots designing and developing critical communication systems.

Everything they produce needs the utmost care and protection during transit to avoid damage and prevent systems from failure when they’re needed most.
L3 Harris contacted us to discuss a solution for moving large containers on wheels around their facility in Crawley. Each container carries an individual piece of technical equipment that is later assembled with others to create a complete system – and it is paramount each piece arrives at its destination safely, without any glitches. The items inside are not always heavy, but the containers are incredibly weighty due to their robust protective casing.
Our team recommended the V-Move XL-HD and visited their facility to provide a demonstration. This heavy-duty electric tow tug easily moves items weighing up to 5,000kg and is perfect for all kinds of applications, including large containers on wheels. A comprehensive range of hitches, couplings and attachments means it can be configured to tow any device with any fitting, quickly and effectively. The battery recharges in 5-8 hours, so an overnight charge ensures the unit stays powered and ready for the working day ahead.
The tug was purchased by Acorn Industrial Components, a logistics partner, and modified before delivery to L3 Harris in Crawley. Due to the weight of the containers, we fitted the standard V-Move XL-HD unit with full counterweights to give it plenty of stability during transit.
