Moving filled 1,100ltr bins to the roadside

City and Country is a property development and management company operating out of Stansted, UK, producing domestic buildings in and around London, the South East and South West.

The company specialise in transforming heritage buildings into modern luxury apartments. All live-in residences, their properties are home to large numbers of people – often into the hundreds – who collectively generate vast quantities of waste. Standard-capacity wheelie bins are insufficient on estates of this size, and they require more substantial 1,100 litre bins to manage residents’ waste effectively. Facility teams move the bins from their stores to the road ready for waste collection – a heavy job even when the containers are part-empty due to their size and certainly when filled to the brim!

City and Country contacted us to ask about a towing device that would help move the bins each week more manageable and remove the strain on their staff. Our team discussed the towing unit highly popular for transporting large waste bins across sites: the V-Move XL-HD electric tow tug.

Before its delivery to an estate in Bromley, our team fitted a spring-back handle to help drive the unit in and out of tight spaces quickly. The customer also told us they intended to tow four bins together as a train. Consequently, we provided them with towing kits – an easy-fit pin to hook each bin together – plus eight directional locks to fit to each of the bin’s rear wheels and fix them in place during transit.
