Moving a variety of equipment around a historic venue
Winter Gardens is a historic venue based in the popular seaside resort of Blackpool, UK. Famed for its theatre and ballroom dancing, it welcomes thousands of visitors yearly, and has since it opened back in 1878.
The event and facilities teams work hard to prepare the venue for its numerous events. One day, they might be completing behind-the-scenes set-up for a sell-out show, and the next, moving heavy audio equipment into the ballroom ahead of a competition. Even with trolleys and trailers to carry all kinds of items across the venue, staff find their work tiring; and it will become even more so with the launch of their new 7,000 people capacity conference centre in 2022.
The leadership team wanted to acquire a towing solution to support staff with moving trolleys and trailers safely and without impacting their health. They contacted Industar, and we attended the venue shortly after to demonstrate the ever-popular V-Move XL-HD electric tow tug.
A highly versatile unit, the V-Move XL-HD comes with a choice of fittings, allowing it to move multiple types of trolleys easily. With a pulling capacity of 5,000kg, it makes light work of shifting trailers carrying cumbersome loads like audio equipment and furniture. All up, it presented the perfect solution for the customer’s changing needs from a tow tug.
Before shipping the unit to the Winter Gardens team, we fitted six counterweights to provide plenty of balance and interchangeable ball pin couplings for versatility with hooking up different trolley types. The team also installed non-marking tires to prevent damage to the venue’s historic, well-maintained floors.
The V-Move XL-HD tow tug has been a massive help to the team, who can now move heavy loads at will and turn their venue around for the next event in a highly efficient, safe manner. Serviced annually by our team, the customer has complete peace of mind the unit will continue to go the distance for the long term.
