Lyndon Systems
Moving modified vans and trailers around a factory
Lyndon Systems is a Doncaster-based company specialising in vehicle conversions for commercial use, such as welfare vans and trailers for when workers are on a site (providing hot water, canteen, seating and a toilet) and catering vans for serving hot food and drinks.
Most vans and trailers are already heavy before accounting for any significant changes to their factory configuration. By the time Lyndon Systems finishes refitting a van or trailer with various amenities for cooking and hygiene, it becomes even heavier still. This makes moving vehicles without their own motor a complex job; indeed, not one that a person would want to do themselves without using a towing device to preserve their health and safety.
Lyndon Systems realised they needed a trolley to move their welfare trailers through production and into storage. Even their lighter trailers proved too risky to move by hand, and Lyndon knew this left staff vulnerable to injury. They contacted us for help – and, as a leading towing expert, we had just the device for the job!
Our team positioned the V-Move XL-HD, a robust yet versatile electric tow tug that could easily move weights of up to 5,000kgs with minimum effort. Based on the requirement, we suggested the standard spec come with counterweights and air-filled tires to perform at its best. While we had the base unit in stock, it was not to the necessary spec – and the preconfigured model came with a lead time of 6 months.
The customer was in a quandary. They could see that our suggested model was the correct one for the job, yet waiting 6 months wasn’t an option. So, we agreed to demo the lower spec unit to see if it would support moving their vehicles safely until parts were available to spec out the unit to a higher capacity. It worked brilliantly, and the customer took possession of the unit straight away, helping them resolve their pressing issue while the extra parts arrived.
Once the counterweights arrived in stock, we retrieved the unit, made the configuration changes, and delivered it back to the customer within a week completely free of charge.
Lyndon Systems was delighted with the outcome. In short, our team changed a suspected 6-months lead time from months to just days, and the customer now has the precise tow tug to help them move trailers on site safely. That’s another satisfied customer, thanks to our team going above and beyond to resolve their issue quickly.
