Moving cherry pickers around a factory & yard
Niftylift Ltd is a leading manufacturer of mobile elevated work platforms, including cherry pickers, access platforms and boom lifts, based in Milton Keynes.
After almost forty years in business, Niftylift has grown to become one of the world’s leading manufacturers in its field – which makes for one bustling depot, shipping equipment to over 60 countries. Not only do machines leave the depot once assembled, but they also return regularly for onsite servicing, with all kinds of platforms constantly coming and going between the factory, shipping yard and service areas. Each piece of equipment weighs several thousand kilos, making them difficult to move manually without using a towing device.
Niftylift Ltd came to us wanting an electric tow tug to move their large assembled cherry picker units in and out of the factory, wash bay, and yard. We took two units along to their site in Milton Keynes for a demonstration – the V-Move XL-HD and V-Move XL+, both made by world leader Verhagen Leiden.
Both medium-sized movers, the V-Move XL+ can pull 8000 kg weights over the V-Move XL-HD’s 5000 kg, and is slightly larger. Otherwise, their features are similar, with many add-ons available, including hydraulic couplings. As with all Verhagen Leiden mid-size electric tow tugs, they provide a robust and reliable towing operation, powered by a long-life battery for up to two days.
On seeing the tow tugs units in action, Niftylift Ltd preferred the V-Move XL+ model due to its efficiency up and down a ramp. They placed an order immediately, and, before shipping, our team fitted it with full counterweights and stabiliser wheels at the back to prevent it from tipping over. They also included an enhanced horn and motion siren to enhance safety onsite and upgraded the batteries to provide more power. Several weeks later, they approached us again to purchase the V-Move XL-HD model for use indoors, moving part assembled cherry pickers and access platforms around the factory and stores.
Niftylift Ltd is completely satisfied with both units, which work brilliantly for them. We now provide an annual onsite service to keep the units well maintained and working effectively, which our client also appreciates. Working with us has saved our clients time and cost and makes their daily tasks easier to manage.
