Moving heavy equipment up and down ramps

RVA Group is a global engineering company specialising in decommissioning services, with sites across the UK helping clients in the power generation, chemical and pharmaceutical sectors.

 

Projects come in all shapes and sizes for RVA, yet one factor remains unchanged; safety is always at the forefront. When their team visits old sites to carry out demolition or remediation services, they take lots of specialist equipment – mostly heavy, not to mention expensive – which needs safe transport from one point to the next to prevent any damage.

 

Our client approached us when looking for a trolley to repeatedly move heavy equipment up and down a ramp during a 6-week decommissioning project. Based on the nature of the project, the loads and the terrain, we recommended the V-Move XL+ unit. A heavy-duty and robust electric tow tug, the unit can easily move weights up to 8000kg. It also has many options for different couplings, hitches and safety features, making it one of the most versatile and adaptable towing units available.

 

Due to the project’s short duration, RVA Group was reluctant to buy a unit outright and preferred to take it on a hire basis, which we allowed. We reconfigured the standard V-Move XL+ unit to have full counterweights fitted to provide extra stability. It performed well during the loan period, and the client was delighted – so much so that they approached us again to hire the same unit but for a project lasting for 52 weeks. We agreed to do so, knowing that the client would take great care of the unit and return it to us in a good state.
