Robinsons Caravans is a leading UK provider of new and used caravans to families primarily in the Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire regions. With over 50 years’ trading history, it is a well-established business with two busy dealerships and an excellent reputation for sales, servicing and ad-hoc repairs.
Caravans are a heavy vehicle – with a 6-berth model weighing up to 2000kgs – meaning that to pull one manually even a short distance puts unnecessary strain on the body. Indeed, manual handling is not recommended for a business such as Robinsons that moves several caravans each day. The risk of injury led the leadership team to contact us for suggestions on a reliable electric mover to help move caravans from the forecourt to the workshop area and back again.
Our team demonstrated the electric tow tug V-Move XLHD at both customer sites in Chesterfield and Worksop. A compact unit, the XLHD packs plenty of power and can pull weights up to 5000kg, with a towing hitch that makes it the perfect solution to tow caravans and trailers. It is also cost-efficient, powered by a battery that keeps its charge for 1-2 days and a re-charge time of 5-8 hours.
Robinsons initially purchased one unit for their Chesterfield dealership. Since then, and based on its success, Robinsons has acquired a second unit for their sister dealership – giving the team in Worksop the same reliable solution as their Chesterfield branch.
After several months of heavy use, it became apparent the rough ground onsite did not accommodate the machine’s solid rubber tyres that Robinsons requested at the time of purchase. Our team resolved this by replacing each one with air-filled tires at no charge, which has proved effective.
Robinsons are pleased with both units and the level of service received from our team, including our pre-sale knowledge and ongoing support. The solution saves on time and cost at both sites, allowing the staff to service their customers’ needs quickly and efficiently.
