Based in Hull, Coachman Caravans manufacture and supply caravans and motorhomes to dealerships across the UK. The company has hand-built leisure vehicles since 1986, priding itself on excellent craftsmanship and high-quality design.

 

Caravans are heavy vehicles, weighing up to 2000kg for a 6-berth sleeper. While motorhomes are easy to move thanks to being driveable, caravans are much more cumbersome – and when you’re moving several every day, hooking and unhooking to a car is not a viable option in terms of time. Instead, companies like Coachmans rely on a towing device – yet this requires great care to handle a caravan manually without incurring an injury.

 

Coachmans came to us searching for a solution to tow their caravans safely across the factory and yard. Our team demonstrated the electric tow tug V-Move XL-HD from world leaders Verhagen Leiden. Despite its ability to pull weights up to 5000kg, their V-Move XL-HD is a compact unit both agile and simple to handle. The unit runs solidly thanks to its high-definition motor, powered by a battery that stays charged for up to 2 days and is quick to recharge overnight in 5 to 8 hours.

 

The customer was so impressed with what they saw, they placed an order immediately for one unit to use at their depot in Hull. Before delivery, we fitted counterweights to configure the unit precisely as required and accompany the standard tow ball and pin attachments. This ensured the V-Move XL-HD arrived on-site good to go.

 

Since then, and based on its success, Coachmans have enquired into purchasing a second unit for use at the same depot and a third at a new site they are planning to open shortly.
