Wolseley UK is a building merchant specialising in plumbing, heating, cooling and drainage supplies, with depots stretching across the UK supporting its many trade and retail customers.
As one of the UK’s busiest wholesalers, every Wolseley UK site is on the go from dawn to dusk, fulfilling orders for their customers. Logistics teams work on-demand to pick and pack orders and move goods from stores to shipping as quickly and efficiently. It’s a tiring job made easier by using trolleys to carry weighty materials, and yet with so many on the move as people rush to fulfil orders, it can be a hazardous environment to work in.
Wolseley UK operates a specialist plant hire division from many UK depots. Their Luton branch contacted us about purchasing an electric tow tug to move empty twin axle trailers around their yard. After discussing their needs and the many types of units available, our team visited their site to demonstrate the V-Move L electric tow tug manufactured by market leader Verhagen Leiden.
A mid-size tow tug, the V-Move L can move loads up to 2000kg with many configurations available to adapt the unit for its required use. It is extremely compact, making it simple to use and store, with many safety features, including an automatic handbrake that stops the unit from moving even on an incline. A long-life battery keeps the tow tug operational for one to two working days, saving workers from becoming tired or injured carrying weighty materials.
Before shipping the unit to Luton, our team reconfigured the standard V-Move L to meet their needs for extra stability and safety. We added counterweights and stabiliser wheels, air-filled tires, and a motion siren, with the whole package competitively priced.
So far, so good, and the team at Wolseley UK is extremely pleased with how the unit operates, making life simple and safe for their employees handling shipping. They are now considering purchasing more units for their other stores across the UK – and as always, we will be happy to help another satisfied client with their next electric tow tug.
