Tasty African Food produces African foods to customers across London and its surrounds.
Founded in 2000, it is the largest food chain of its kind in the UK, with 23 dine-in and takeaway outlets across South East London and Kent, a bulk pre-packaged food order service and events catering.
The company has grown significantly since its inception in 2000 and handles hundreds of customer orders daily. They are constantly looking for ways to improve their logistics and make deliveries as efficient as possible to reduce customer waiting times and ensure food reaches its destination quickly. They are also highly people-focused and keen to make life easy for their staff, including those involved in the logistics process.
The head of operations approached our team back in 2020 to see if we could provide a tow tug on a hire basis to help move food trolleys between the production and delivery areas at their headquarters in Woolwich. Our team recommended the Verhagen Leiden V-Move S unit, a small but mighty electric tow tug compact enough to manoeuvre tight spaces yet with plenty of power to pull loads up to 1300kg. Its ‘grab and go’ hydraulic jaw coupling system makes it simple to move roll cages, containers and small trolleys with minimum effort.
The customer initially hired the unit for six months to see if it suited the environment. Based on its success – not only in terms of towing power and agility but its ease of use, up to 2-days battery life and non-slip, non-mark tires – they continue to lease the unit from Industar to this day with zero issues experienced during that time.
