Moving trolleys around the factory and production lines
SPTS Technologies is a leading designer and manufacturer of technical solutions for the semiconductor and microelectronics industry based in Newport, Wales. Their specialist etch and film systems help other manufacturers to build and pack highly-sensitive electrical products efficiently.
Manufacturing plants are typically a bustling environment – and it’s no different at SPTS Technologies, where hundreds of raw materials arrive each day to help build their hi-spec solutions on a continuous cycle. Once assembled, products need to move quickly to the stores before the next batch is ready to commence production. It’s a constant flow of materials in and goods out, with everything requiring careful handling to avoid damage.
SPTS Technologies were looking for a tow tug to help pull trolleys filled with specialist materials weighing up to 2,000kg across a polished flat floor. They had been searching the market for some time without success when they came across Industar and wanted to discuss their options. After discussing their needs for a towing tug in-depth – the trolley weights, dimensions and attachments required to connect it to a tow – we arrived at the V-Move XL tow tug by Verhagen Leiden.
A powerful mover, the V-Move XL unit has excellent pulling and pushing capacity and is built to withstand heavy loads up to 3,500kg, making it perfect for industrial and warehouse settings. It can be fitted with different couplings, making it one of the more versatile tugs on the market, and charges quickly overnight in 5-8 hours, leaving it ready to get to work all day, every day.
To support the customer’s requirements, we fitted 5x counterweights to the top and 1 to the lower end of the tug, non-marking tires and an industrial pin with R-clips before delivery to the customer. They were also fabricating their own couplings to allow for a simple connection between trolley and tug.
SPTS Technologies has confirmed they are happy with the towing unit, which we provided at an affordable cost and with the correct specification to efficiently bring parts trolleys to the production line.
