Parker Hannifen is the global leader in motion and control technologies. Headquartered in Ohio, the UK arm has operated for over 50 years, servicing customers with products to support hydraulics, pneumatics, electromechanical, filtration, process control, fluid and gas handling, sealing and shielding, climate control and aerospace industries.
The company deals with masses of raw materials at its UK depots each day, manufacturing thousands of products that generate a large amount of waste. Swarf bins and trolleys are constantly filled and need moving away from machine lines quickly and safely; they are also cumbersome once they reach capacity and are virtually impossible to move manually. A towing device that would move multiple bins together made sense to the team at Parker Hannifen – but which one was right for the job?
Our team visited the site for a consultation and free onsite demonstration. After further discussion, we determined the most suitable product in our range to meet the client’s needs – a V-Move L electric tow tug. With a towing capacity of 2000kg, the unit is perfect for pushing and pulling wheeled objects with minimum physical effort. An 800watt electric motor operates at a speed of 6kph to make quick work of moving items from point A to B.
The client purchased one standard unit, which was then customised to suit their precise needs, adding solid tires, a counterweight, a flashing beacon and a movement buzzer for safety. Our team also installed a bespoke double A-frame coupling on the unit to help it move multiple objects whilst using one tow tug, which we designed in partnership with the vendor, Verhagen Leiden, and our client. This has saved Parker Hannifen money by requiring only one tow tug unit to complete the job of many.
Parker Hannifen has found the solution a success, making life simpler for the operations team by removing waste effectively and without concerns for people safety. It has saved them significant time and cost in the waste removal process.
