Moving Danish trolleys around a nursery

Cardiff Council provides many services for its residents, including the upkeep of public parks and gardens. Bute Park Nursery, situated on the city’s outskirts and council-owned and run, sees thousands of bedding plants produced each year for distribution across the many green spaces it boasts.

 

The team uses Danish trolleys to move plants around the nursery – metal multi-tiered carriers designed for transporting large quantities of potted flowers and greenery in one go. This trolley style stands almost 2metres high and has a set of small wheels that often fall prey to pavement ruts, causing it to fall over. The extremely uneven terrain at Bute Park, including many bumps, cracks, and kerbs to navigate, adds to the complex task of moving plants from A to B without damage.

 

The customer approached our team and asked to see our specialist V-Move EDV unit. A highly unique style of tow tug, it comes as a flat-bed set on large wheels and is designed specifically to accommodate this style of trolley. It is straightforward to use, with a ramp at the back which lowers to allow the trolley aboard, and once secured, transports plants quickly and easily on rugged terrain without falls.

 

Before visiting our team for a viewing and demo, the council had only seen the V-Move EDV unit on paper. Afterwards, they made an immediate purchase and have used it daily since then without issues. On hearing of its success, other garden nurseries have acquired the same model either as a purchase or on a contract hire basis, again without hiccups.

 

Cardiff Council is pleased with the solution which meets their needs supporting staff to preserve the plants in transit. It has made their transportation onsite safer and quicker to complete, saving the organisation significant costs.
